Puerto Rico Poster/Print 16 x 20

As a Puerto Rican artist, I've been wanting to truly connect with my background and roots. In the past two years, I found myself growing deeper into my culture and not being so distant from it. As someone who grew up and lives in Humboldt Park, Chicago I wanted to create something that doesn't just represent my art but who I am, along with my community. I wanted to show pride and ownership of where my family and I come from, which is why this piece is probably my most favorite ones I’ve created so far. Not really focusing on the colors, the strategies I used, or the final product of it but because of what it means and represents. By creating this piece I want to encourage and inspire others to become more aware of where they come from, who they are, and to become prideful of their culture. In the summer of 2019, I was fortunate enough to visit Puerto Rico after six years. I was able to see my family that I haven't seen or connected with since I was little. This was a total eye-opener for me to truly see the beauty, community, and culture that I am extremely proud to come from.
